Generative AI Policy
The Journal of Scientific Advances (JSA) recognizes the growing role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in research, writing, analysis, and academic communication. The journal supports the responsible use of AI technologies while maintaining the principles of research integrity, transparency, originality, and accountability.
Generative AI tools may assist authors in improving language clarity, organization, formatting, or other supportive tasks; however, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, and scientific validity of their submitted manuscripts.
Authors using generative AI tools during manuscript preparation should ensure that:
- The use of AI tools does not replace the author's intellectual contribution, scientific reasoning, or responsibility for the research work.
- AI-generated content is carefully reviewed, verified, and corrected before submission.
- All factual information, references, data interpretations, and scientific claims are independently validated by the authors.
- The use of AI tools does not result in plagiarism, fabricated information, or misrepresentation of authorship.
Authors are required to disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools have contributed significantly to manuscript preparation, analysis, content development, or other research-related activities. The disclosure should provide sufficient information about the purpose and extent of AI assistance.
Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the research content, ethical approval, data accuracy, or publication decisions. Authorship remains limited to individuals who have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the work.
The journal does not permit the use of generative AI tools for:
- Creating false research data, experimental results, images, or scientific evidence.
- Generating misleading references, citations, or unsupported academic claims.
- Replacing author responsibility for research design, interpretation, and scholarly judgement.
- Producing content that violates ethical standards, copyright requirements, or publication integrity principles.
Editors and reviewers should also maintain confidentiality and ethical responsibility when using any digital tools during the editorial process. Unpublished manuscripts, reviewer comments, and confidential information must not be entered into external AI systems in a manner that compromises privacy or intellectual property.
The Journal of Scientific Advances encourages responsible and transparent use of emerging technologies while ensuring that human expertise, academic judgement, and research integrity remain central to scholarly publishing.
